
Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) will participate in the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series 2025 Empowered by BRIDGESTONE (hereinafter referred to as the Super Taikyu Series) in the "ST-Q class" for 3 races starting from the Autopolis round on July 26-27.
Team HRC deploys a new car in new livery. Succeeding the CIVIC TYPE R CNF-R used in the 2023 and 2024 seasons, the new car to carry the car number 271, named after the Honda RA271 that participated in F1 in 1964, is a vehicle tuned by HRC based on the CIVIC TCR*. The entry name has been changed to CIVIC TYPE R HRC Concept. Having just completed its shakedown on July 8, the car will be refined through up-coming races.
The CIVIC TCR is a racing car based on a mass-produced Civic being modified by the Italian racing factory J.A.S. Motorsports. More than 150 units Civic TCR are participating in races in Japan, Europe, North America, China, and Asia.
With an aim to contribute more to global racing customers, HRC has changed the base vehicle of car number 271 to TCR this year and will utilize Super Taikyu series for the development of performance parts.
The team plans to participate in the Round 5 at Autopolis on July 26-27, the Round 6 at Okayama on October 25-26, and the final round at Fuji on November 15-16. The drivers are Hiroki Otsu, who has been central to the development of the car number 271, young driver Yuto Nomura who is participating in the Super Formula Light championships, and a female driver Shion Tsujimoto who has experiences in various kinds of races. Feedback from these drivers with different experiences will be utilized for development of a race car that can adapt to various customer driver's needs.
*TCR (Touring Car Racing) is a category of touring car races operated under the FIA (International Automobile Federation), using front-wheel-drive vehicles based on mass-produced cars with relatively narrow modification ranges. TCR series are held worldwide, and it is also introduced in the Super Taikyu Series in Japan
