
Honda Commemorate 40th Anniversary of Its First F1™ Title with the Williams FW11
The theme of the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed is “The Rivals – Epic Racing Duels.” The event shines a spotlight on the many legendary rivalries that have shaped the history of motorsport. Honda has also built its own history by competing against some of the sport’s greatest rivals in F1™, MotoGP, IndyCar and other racing series.
At Goodwood 2026, Honda looks back on some of the legendary rivalries that have defined its racing history.
Honda is commemorating the 40th anniversary of its first FIA Formula One World Championship Constructors’ title in 1986 with a variety of event programs around the world.
Honda’s first championship title in F1™ was a major milestone that symbolised its spirit of challenge. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of this achievement and celebrate with motorsports fans around the world, Honda is conducting a global showrun program featuring the Williams Honda FW11.
The FW11 will be driven by Damon Hill and Ryo Michigami. Damon Hill made his name primarily with Williams Racing during the 1990s and is one of the legendary drivers who won the F1™ Drivers’ Championship in 1996.
Powered by the 1.5-liter V6 twin-turbo RA166E engine, the FW11 was renowned for its outstanding performance. It claimed nine victories from 16 Grands Prix during the 1986 season, delivering Honda’s first Constructors’ Championship title and marking the beginning of the company’s golden era in F1.
