Top ten results for Marini and Moreira at Silverstone

The 2026 MotoGP World Championship season has well and truly gotten back underway after a spectacular Sunday in Silverstone, where a classic British summer’s day made for perfect racing conditions.
It would be another classic Luca Marini performance as the #10 fought through the field over the course of the race. A less-than-ideal start gave the Italian extra work to do and time spent trying to pass Morbidelli saw him lose further time to those ahead. Despite this, Marini’s pace was superior and he quickly found himself inside the top ten. Pushing until the very end to catch Brad Binder, the early work to recover meant that Marini crossed the line in ninth and leaves the British GP with seven more points in his account.
Diogo Moreira started from 14th on the grid and the Brazilian delivered a strong start to the race, determined to make the most of it. After a challenging weekend on a demanding track, the Pro Honda LCR rider managed his race well, avoiding mistakes and making his way forward. At the chequered flag he was tenth, collecting valuable points.
Unfortunately there were crashes for both home-hero Cal Crutchlow (Castrol Honda LCR) and Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol), with both unable to complete the race today.
The MotoGP World Championship will be on track again for the Grand Prix of Aragon, August 28 – 30. Now, a final brief respite before the demanding run of ‘flyaway’ races.
The race was about as good as we could have expected with where we started. I didn’t make my best start, and I spent a long time trying to get past Morbidelli, giving us more work to do. It’s a very familiar story and highlights why we need to focus on improving our qualifying. I am really satisfied with how I am riding and I feel like I am improving my overtaking and able to make up ground quicker, this is a positive. Satisfied to again be the top Honda, this is what our target should be each weekend. Thanks to the guys on my side for their work this weekend, again Sunday was our best day of the weekend.

This weekend, we’ve struggled quite a bit. This track has been demanding for us, so we’ve tried to learn as much as possible, avoid mistakes, and do the best job possible. Yesterday, I said that a top 10 was the goal, and we did it! The important thing is that we’ve scored some more points and gathered some important information.

It wasn’t the Grand Prix we would have hoped for. For me, for the team, and for the people who came here. But I gave my best. Over the weekend, I was competitive and fast, the fastest I’ve ever been at Silverstone. Today, I crashed because I made a mistake under braking. For five laps, I had someone in front of me, and when you are in that situation, the tyre temperature increases. Then, once I was trying to set my rhythm after overtaking, I would have needed a couple of laps to let the tyre cool down before pushing again. That’s why I crashed. In any case, we made progress this weekend. I leave here with good memories and the feeling that we did a good job.
