Takaaki Nakagami sustains knee ligament injury following Sprint crash
During the Sprint race of the Czech Grand Prix at the Brno Circuit, IDEMITSU Honda LCR replacement rider Takaaki Nakagami was involved in an incident when he was hit by another rider through no fault of his own, resulting in a heavy impact.
Initially, Nakagami appeared to be in stable condition, with no major complications. However, after reporting some pain in his right leg, he was taken to the medical center for evaluation. What was first believed to be a minor contusion was later diagnosed as a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tear in his right knee.
An MRI scan will be performed to confirm the extent of the injury. In the coming days, the medical team will determine the next steps in terms of treatment and recovery.
As a result, Takaaki Nakagami will not take part in Sunday’s race at Brno.

I’m happy to score some points, it’s never easy in the Sprint. We went with the soft rear tyre and I think it was a good decision. I wanted to stay in the fight. In the group it was tough to overtake, but I managed to stay there and felt pretty good. Once the tyre started to drop off, it got harder to turn the bike, but overall we did a good job. We finished the race and took some points, which is always important. Let’s see what happens tomorrow, we still have to decide on tyres and will talk it through with the team later.
