Johann Zarco secures Q2 spot on opening Friday of 2025
Chang International CircuitCASTROL Honda LCR rider Johann Zarco had a strategic Friday at the Chang International Circuit, finishing in 10th place.
The highlights of the day were as follows:
Frenchman Zarco showed strong performance from the morning session, where he finished in 11th place.
In the afternoon, he led part of the practice, being the fastest rider at several points.
He found his pace and secured 10th place, advancing directly to Q2 in Saturday’s qualifying.
Somkiat Chantra shows consistency on opening Friday at Chang International Circuit
IDEMITSU Honda LCR rider Somkiat Chantra delivered a solid performance on the first Friday of the 2025 season at Chang International Circuit. He finished the day in 20th place after a productive session.
In the morning, Chantra demonstrated some improvements, running within the top 15 during the first practice, and finishing 17th.
Focused on gathering valuable data for the Sprint and main race, he maintained a strong effort throughout the afternoon session, ultimately finishing 20th.
Tomorrow marks a milestone for the Thai rider as he takes part in his first-ever Sprint race, a new format for him, on home soil.
Chantra remains focused on making further progress as the weekend unfolds.
First Q2 of the year, and it felt great! It’s a strong way to start the weekend. I set a good lap time early on, then focused on my strategy and tried to improve, but it was challenging. Tomorrow, the goal is to secure the best possible grid position and enjoy the Sprint with a solid result.

It's been a nice day. I was able to observe and compare myself with many riders, which allowed me to learn and adapt to the category, lap by lap. We made some progress, but we still need to keep working on the areas where we are struggling. It's a great emotion for me to be here in front of my crowd on my debut.
