The Frenchman and the crew get along very well and, alongside HRC, are doing an interesting job to start the season with a clear path to follow.
In the evening, due to some rain and mixed conditions on track, he could not improve his lap time, but in any case, he managed to finish in the top 10. At the end of the day, he was the first Honda rider in the classification.
IDEMITSU Honda LCR rider Takaaki Nakagami has experienced a tricky Friday in Qatar, as some rain and mixed conditions jeopardized the working plan.
The first practice helped Nakagami understand the track conditions and the areas for improvement. However, due to the weather changes during the afternoon, he had no options to test the different ideas.
After the Friday laps, the team is analyzing the data to find a solution to improve Nakagami's qualifying and Sprint performance.
It was nice to get the 6th position. We put the new tyre, and it worked well. Today's job proves that we've got potential, and as long as I feel the way I felt today, I want to push and stay with the top guys. I will try to do the best job possible tomorrow in the qualifying session, and we will see. I believe in it, and this is important.
We started the day with the same setting as in the test. However, I couldn't quite find the feeling on the bike. We had some interesting plans for the afternoon, but the rain altered our ideas, preventing us from testing what we believed could be helpful. Tomorrow's practice session is essential, and we are determined to secure a favorable position for the Sprint.
