qa Lusail International Circuit

First Day in Qatar for Iker Lecuona

Replacing Alex Rins and helping the team to make the most of the beginning of the weekend, Lecuona has carried out a solid Friday under the lights of the Qatarian track. The Spaniard has finished close to strong rivals regarding lap times and is progressing session after session. Tomorrow’s goal will be gathering information during the Sprint to prepare for Sunday’s race.

LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider Takaaki Nakagami ended 22nd on Friday at the Lusail International Circuit.

A new surface and many items to consider for Takaaki and the crew, who have faced a complicated first day in Qatar. A lack of grip on the rear tyre and some difficulties with the bike's front end have prevented them from pushing and getting closer to the initial goal. After Friday's sessions, the objective is to analyze the information and improve to prepare for the Sprint.

This morning, the track was quite dirty, and finding a fast lap time was difficult. In the afternoon, I felt better, and despite the difficulties, we’ve done a good job with the team and are making solid steps.

I still suffer when trying to pick up the bike and that’s why we’ve struggled today. Besides, we are still experiencing a lack of grip and some difficulties with the front end. Let’s see if we can take a step tomorrow.
