・Scott Dixon scores record-breaking 142nd NTT INDYCAR SERIES podium

・Andretti Global's Colton Herta finishes third—notches first oval podium finish

・Championship leader Alex Palou holds 33-point advantage going into Nashville season finale

Scott Dixon once again led the way for Honda this weekend in race 2 of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES return to the famed Milwaukee Mile. The six-time series champion scored his 142nd Indy car podium finish, a new Indy car record, coming home second in the Hy-Vee 250.

Dixon was followed home by Colton Herta in the #26 Andretti Global Honda, as the young Californian notched his first podium finish on an oval track in the series.

Colton's Andretti Global teammates Marcus Ericsson and Kyle Kirkwood also scored top-10 finishes for Honda in fifth and eighth, respectively.

In the championship fight, Alex Palou leaves Milwaukee with a 33-point advantage over Will Power. Palou suffered from a non-hybrid related battery issue before the green flag—a spec part amongst both engine manufacturers—going 29-laps down before even turning a lap on circuit.

The #10 Chip Ganassi Racing team would persevere through the remainder of the race, making up points to mitigate the damage as other cars dropped out of contention. Palou would salvage a 19th place finish at the line, giving him a 33-point buffer going into Nashville.

Meanwhile, his Chip Ganassi Racing teammate, Linus Lundqvist, clinched the Rookie of the Year championship—Honda's third-consecutive ROTY title.

After four races over the last three weekends, the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES now takes a week off before concluding with the 17th and final round of the season, the Big Machine Music City Grand Prix, September 14-15 at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee.

We're a bit sad and disappointed. We had no power. Then we thought we had it fixed, but it stopped again. The problem we had was not in my control, or the team or HRC. It's a sport. It is what it is. We changed the battery and then we could get back out. Once we got going, we were happier. We were getting points: one more point, one more point, and so on. So, not a great day, but could've been a lot worse.

It was definitely a rough start to our weekend, we just lost the balance in practice and qualifying, which put us in a bit of a hole. Yesterday, we couldn't catch a break [in the opening race]. But today, it was nice to roll from 17th [on the grid] and get up to second. The car was definitely good on long runs. Man, the car was fast. Huge thanks to everyone on the PNC Bank #9 and Honda of course. It was a dream to drive out there today.

Yesterday was a challenging race. Sometimes the racing gods don't smile on us. Today was better in terms of Honda results. Scott Dixon continues to amaze with his efforts, congrats on setting a new Indy car record for podium finishes. And congratulations to everyone at Ganassi and HRC for getting Alex Palou back on track. Everyone really jumped right in and helped quickly solve the issue with Alex's car. Coming out of here still in the points lead is huge for his championship hopes.
