Alex Palou wins Portland in Honda podium sweep
Portland International RacewayAlex Palou further extended his championship lead in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, finishing first in an all-Honda podium sweep at the OnlyBulls Grand Prix of Portland.
The Spaniard has six wins on the season and a 110-point lead in the championship standings with five races left in 2026. The Chip Ganassi Racing driver is looking for his fourth consecutive IndyCar championship and fifth in the last six years. Today's victory makes Palou the third driver in IndyCar series history to have back-to-back seasons with six or more wins. He will be looking to best his personal record of eight wins in a year in the final month of the season.
Second place went to Portland polesitter and 2026 Indy 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist. Rosenqvist led 33 laps on the day in his Meyer Shank Racing Honda, losing the lead to Palou in the first pit cycle.
Andretti Global's Will Power rounded out the all-Honda podium, scoring his third third-place finish of the year in his first season with the team. This is Honda's fourth podium sweep of the year, following 1-2-3 triumphs at the Arlington Grand Prix, the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and the Detroit Grand Prix.
Power's Andretti Global teammate, Kyle Kirkwood, retook second in the drivers' championship fight with a fifth-place finish—coming in just ahead of their third Andretti stablemate Marcus Ericsson. Kirkwood has finished in the top 10 in all but one race this season.
The strong results today for the Honda teams and drivers of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES have Honda out front in the manufacturers' title fight 1129-996.

I'm happy with second place, but it's frustrating to be that close. It's just in the details. Alex did a really good first stint, saving one more lap of fuel, and the overcut was so powerful. I didn't do a great launch in that pit sequence either. Today was hard because it was a game of lapped cars throughout the race and dealing with the traffic. Overall, though, it was a good day for us on the Meyer Shank Racing #60 and a good day for Honda with three Hondas on the podium. This result is good for our championship points and our momentum going into the end of the season.
