Kato takes a pair of fighting fourths in the FRECA finale

Taito Kato, ART Grand Prix and Honda Formula Dream Project driver, completed his strongest overall weekend at Monza in the finale of the 2025 Formula Regional European Championship, FRECA.

Kato's weekend started off well when he went third fastest in the opening Collective Test, following that with third fastest again in the second Collective Test, just 0.3seconds off the top of the timesheet.

That pace carried through to Group A Qualifying 1, where he set an impressive second fastest time. As the track temperature varied wildly at the Italian venue, from six degrees Celsius to 20 from morning to afternoon session, Kato seemed to feel comfortable.

Lining up fourth on the grid for the opening race on Saturday, he quickly settled into a strong rhythm and was fighting for a podium finish until the flag, missing out on third place by barely half a second.

For Sunday's race two, Kato lined up tenth on the grid, and when the lights went out he completed arguably his best race of the season. Fighting through the pack, he wasted no time in quickly fighting his way to the front of the field to secure another fourth place finish at the flag, again just missing the podium by less than 0.5seconds.

That completed his highest points-scoring weekend of the season, adding 24 to his tally. Whilst Kato achieved podium finishes this year at Spa Francorchamps and Paul Ricard, the combination of two solid race results makes the season-finale his best race weekend of the year.
