Glenn Irwin secures 2022 Showdown spot

This weekend Snetterton hosted round eight of the 2022 Bennetts British Superbike Championship, where in yesterday's opening eBay Sprint Race Glenn Irwin confirmed his place in the all-important Showdown, finishing the 12-lap race ninth aboard his Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP.

With the Honda-man already secured as one of the Showdown top-eight, today's two longer 16-lap races were about collecting as many points as possible. Wrapping up both races fourth and collecting a further 26 points, Glenn elevated his overall position in the Showdown standings to fourth place, where he's just 15 points from third place Title Fighter Tarran Mackenzie.

Glenn's teammates also featured strongly across the weekend with BSB rookie Tom Neave scoring points across all three races adding seven points to his championship tally (14-14-13). Ryo Mizuno also enjoyed a points haul today finishing 15th and 14th, after narrowly missing out in yesterday's sprint race where he finished 16th.

Meanwhile Takumi Takahashi took his best finish so far this season in yesterday's Race 1 finishing 11th, but unfortunately in Race 2 he was involved in an incident and collected by another rider, which caused him to crash out of the running. For the final race of the weekend, despite running in a point scoring position, he dropped back in the final stages and came home 17th.

The team will now look forward to the ninth round of the BSB championship, which takes place in two weeks' time at Oulton Park on 23/24/25 September where the Showdown battle commences.
