One-two finish for Repsol Honda Trial Team in San Marino

Toni Bou takes victory and Gabriel Marcelli is second for the first time in the TrialGP World Championship

The first race of the fourth round of the TrialGP World Championship in San Marino was incredible for the Repsol Honda Trial Team riders. The slippery stone areas and the early morning rain were decisive throughout the day, in which Toni Bou achieved his fourth victory of the year and Gabriel Marcelli took second place.

The 32-time World Champion was very consistent throughout the day. On the opening lap, Bou was at the top of the standings, making very few mistakes. He held the lead during the second time around and earned his fourth victory of the season. Thanks to this result, the Repsol Honda rider is the outright leader of the competition.

On the first lap, Marcelli kept fighting for the podium places despite making several mistakes. He improved his results on the second lap and was very solid on every section. Finally, Marcelli claimed second place for the first time in the TrialGP World Championship and is third overall in the series.

The second race of the San Marino TrialGP will be held on Sunday from 9am.

I'm very happy, as it was possibly our best race of the season. On the first lap we got a good lead and I'm happy with today's work. It is a campaign in which there are many riders fighting for victory and it is important not to make mistakes. There are some slippery areas so it's easy to make mistakes. We've got a bit of an advantage in the championship so tomorrow we have to be very careful and try to give it our all.

We are very happy with second place today. The Trial was rather difficult. The zones were very slippery and it was very easy to make mistakes. I think I rode quite well, especially on the second lap. I managed to gain positions and in the end we took second place, which is great for the championship. It is my first second place in the TrialGP World Championship. We are super happy and we hope that tomorrow things will go just as well.

Today both riders did a great job and I want to congratulate them. Toni showed he was above the other riders from the first lap. I am really happy with this victory, which is very important. The victory leaves Toni calmer psychologically; we have worked hard to make this difference, to win. Regarding Gabriel, he has been able to demonstrate what he was looking for since the beginning of the season. I have always trusted his talent and I knew from him that he had a very good level. On the first lap he did a bit of damage with a scare he had on Zone 2 but he changed his mentality and withstood the pressure very well. Gabriel has achieved this second position by himself, he has not depended on the mistakes of others and I am very happy.
