The Repsol Honda Team earned first and second place in the 2024 TrialGP World Championship, thanks to a third position on Sunday for Gabriel Marcelli in Ripoll on Sunday. Champion Toni Bou closed the year with his eleventh race victory.
Marcelli was fighting for second place with Jaime Busto, and the Repsol Honda rider arrived in Ripoll with a seven-point advantage. After two days of competition, he took the coveted position in the overall standings. He started the first lap well, and was third after the first time round the track, then on the second lap he held onto the place, earning his ninth podium of the year. Second place in the series is the best result for Marcelli in the TrialGP World Championship to date.
Bou closed the season on a high note, with victory. Already confirmed as champion, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider continued to push. On the first lap he strung together four 0s in a row to open the day. After making a mistake on Zone 9 and some small errors in the closing stages, he was second, just two points behind Busto. On Lap 2, the points situation remained very tight, but with 10 zeros, the Repsol Honda rider finally took the victory. He concludes the year with 11 wins and 12 podiums in 2024, as well as 18 titles in TrialGP.
On October 5, X-Trial returns with a round in Andorra, where Bou will have the first chance to clinch the title in that series.
