Honda Montesa return to World Championship action in Cahors

After a month away from World Championship competition, Honda Montesa return to action this weekend in Cahors, for the fifth round of the 2026 TrialGP season. The French event is a new venue for the RTL Electric, which has never been run on this terrain. Cahors typically features a very unique course, combining natural sections with more indoor-style obstacles, and the entire competition will be packed into a single day on Sunday.
Miquel Gelabert returns to the World Championship in fifth position in the standings with 185 points. At the last round, held in Anglesey, the Honda Montesa rider finished Sunday in sixth position overall, after placing sixth in Race 1 and fifth in Race 2. The British round provided some good moments, although several individual errors ultimately prevented Gelabert from achieving the podium position he had been fighting for previously.
The break has allowed the team to continue working on the development of the RTL Electric and prepare for the second half of the season. After four rounds focused on learning and improvement in the premier class, the team have demonstrated that they have the pace to compete among the frontrunners. In Cahors, the goal will be to regain that consistency, minimise errors, and once again be in a position to fight for podium finishes.
The action will begin on Saturday with technical and administrative checks, practice sessions, a visit to the track sections, and the 'Super Test.” All the points-scoring action will be concentrated on Sunday in a single day, leaving little room for error. For Honda Montesa, it will be another opportunity to put the work done during the break to the test and start the second half of the season with a result that confirms the progress shown so far.

We know that Cahors will be a challenging race for us due to the terrain, but the goal is to give 100%, avoid mistakes, and fight to finish as high up the the order as possible. Before the break, we were quite close to the podium, so we want to regain that confidence, keep pushing, and get back to the top positions.”
