Honda Montesa ready for 2026 season's final challenge

The 2026 TrialGP World Championship season reaches its final stop this weekend in Pobladura de las Regueras, Spain. It is the conclusion of a first campaign for Honda Montesa with the RTL Electric in the premier class, with continuous learning and development. Miquel Gelabert arrives at the Spanish round fifth in the overall standings with 259 points, and looking to contend for a podium finish.

The championship's penultimate round, held in Zelhem, once again confirmed the team's competitiveness. Gelabert finished in fifth place overall and came close to the podium at various points during the weekend. On the Saturday, the RTL Electric rider secured third place in Race 1, while on Sunday he remained in the fight for the podium right up until the final sections. These results demonstrate the progress the team have made during the second half of the season.

Pobladura is also familiar territory for the Honda Montesa rider. Gelabert has already competed in the town earlier this season during the Spanish Championship, where he claimed third place on both days. That experience will serve as a valuable reference point for the weekend ahead, as rider and team aim to put into practice all the work done since their debut in Motegi.

The final event of the year kicks off on Friday with technical and administrative checks, practice sessions and the 'Super Test'. The final two days of competition for the 2026 season will take place on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th, with Honda Montesa looking to end their first year in the premier class on a high note.

“We are really looking forward to this final round and to finishing the season in the best possible way. It has been a year of great learning with the RTL Electric, and we have evolved race by race, getting closer and closer to the leading riders. We already know the terrain at Pobladura -we took two third-place finishes there in the Spanish Championship this year- so we have good reference points. The goal is to leverage that experience, remain consistent throughout the weekend, and fight to close out the season with a strong result.”

“Since the first race at Motegi, we have made significant strides with the RTL Electric, and the assessment of this first season is positive. We have shown that we can compete with the top riders, and although there is still room for improvement, we are getting closer to the podium. At Pobladura, we want to maintain the momentum from recent races, stay consistent over both days, and minimise errors. It would be a big thing for the entire team to wrap up this first year in TrialGP with a great result.”
