Honda Montesa place fourth on first day in Pobladura de las Regueras
Miquel Gelabert secures third place in Race 2 and finishes the day fourth in the combined standings.

Honda Montesa kicked off the final round of the 2026 TrialGP World Championship on Saturday in Pobladura de las Regueras, Spain. Coming to the end of his first season with the RTL Electric in the premier class, Miquel Gelabert entered the weekend sitting fifth in the overall standings, aiming to leverage the experience gained throughout the year and once again contend for podium spots.
Race 1 got off to a difficult start for the RTL Electric rider, with two consecutive fiascos on Zones 1 and 2. Gelabert managed to react quickly, clearing the third section without any penalties, although another error on Zone 4 caused him to lose ground to the leaders. From that point on, he regained his rhythm and completed several sections with greater confidence. Ultimately, the penalties accumulated during the first part of the course prevented him from moving up the order, and he finished in fifth place with 30 points.
During the second lap, the Montesa Honda rider was much more solid. Gelabert started by clearing the first two sections without any penalties, immediately putting himself in contention for the podium. Despite incurring a five on Zone 3, he maintained his focus and pace for the remainder, successfully clearing most of the sections. With 18 penalty points, the RTL Electric rider secured an impressive third-place finish, once again demonstrating his ability to compete among the top riders.
With a fifth-place finish in Race 1 and third place in Race 2, Gelabert ended the first day of competition in Pobladura de las Regueras in fourth place overall. He now has 285 points for the season and holds fifth place in the TrialGP World Championship standings. On Sunday he will face the final day of competition of the season.

“It was a positive day, although I think we could have been a bit closer to the podium. In the first race, I struggled to find my rhythm, and a few errors in the early sections caused me to lose positions. In the second race, I was able to ride with more confidence and stay in contention for the podium, even though the ‘five’ in the final section hampered us. I’m happy with the third-place finish in Race 2, though I had hoped for a bit more in the day’s combined standings. Tomorrow, we have another chance to keep improving and wrap up the season with a strong result.”

“It was an intense opening day with some positive moments for the team. In the first race, Miquel faced some early difficulties, and the errors that accumulated prevented him from fighting for the top spots. He bounced back very well for the second lap, regained his feel on the bike, and secured third place. Finishing fourth in the combined standings for the day confirms that we are close and that the RTL Electric continues to evolve. Tomorrow, we’ll aim for greater consistency right from the start and close out the weekend with the best possible result.”
