The Honda Montesa team has completed the first of two days of racing at Anglesey, Great Britain. The team went into the British round in good spirits after narrowly missing out on the podium at the last round of the championship, held in Italy, and once again demonstrated a competitive pace, albeit with some ups and downs.

The day kicked off with ‘Race 1’ in dry conditions, where the Catalan rider got off to a flying start after completing an almost perfect first section. However, the increasing difficulty of the sections and the change in weather conditions, with the onset of rain and wind, made the race more challenging. Gelabert faced increasingly slippery terrain and, despite this, completed three consecutive sections without incurring any penalties, although a five in the fifth section knocked him out of contention for the top three. However, it was not enough to challenge for a podium place, and he finished the round in seventh position with 39 penalty points.

In the ‘Super Pole’, the one that determined the starting order for ‘Race 2’, the RTL Electric clocked a time of 0:27:54, which placed them fourth going into the sections of the next heat.

During the second race the rain had let up, but conditions remained tricky. The Honda Montesa rider gradually navigated the sections, despite their high level of difficulty. In the final part of the lap, Gelabert cleared three consecutive zones without incurring penalty points, putting himself in contention for the podium, but he ultimately finished fourth, with a total of 29 points.

Gelabert placed sixth in the combined standings, securing 22 points for Honda Montesa. Sunday sees the final day of the TrialGP of Great Britain.
