Honda Montesa finish the weekend in the Netherlands within the Top 5

Honda Montesa took part in the second and final day of the TrialGP of the Netherlands this Sunday. On Saturday, Miquel Gelabert had finished fifth in the combined standings. However, the RTL Electric rider wanted more, and his goal for the second day was to reach the podium.

In Race 1, Gelabert was in the hunt for the Top 3 from the start. He began the lap with a very positive feeling and a clean first section, but several mistakes in a row on the following sections prevented him from consolidating his position. Despite this, he managed to recover in the final stages, clean six sections and place fourth, with 23 penalty points. In the Super Pole, Gelabert completed the section without penalties and set a time of 0:30.96, putting him fifth in the starting order for Race 2.

In Race 2, Gelabert improved his pace compared to the first lap and again showed competitive speed from the start. The RTL Electric rider completed the first sections with few penalties, putting himself firmly in contention for the podium, but a mistake on the penultimate section cost him the rostrum. Despite completing the lap with a good feeling, the Honda Montesa rider accumulated 20 penalty points and finished  fifth.

After securing fourth place in Race 1 and fifth in Race 2, Miquel Gelabert finished the second day in Zelhem with a Top 5 finish. The RTL Electric rider has 259 points and remains in fifth position in the World Championship standings. The Honda Montesa team will now prepare for the final round of the season in Pobladura, Spain from September 18-20th.

"I felt great on the bike all weekend, and I'm very happy with the work we've done. We've worked really well as a team. Yesterday I rode very well, but things didn't go my way in the second race. Today, we were good in both the first and second races, but we had some bad luck and we missed out on the podium. I was very focused and confident. We have to keep pushing and working harder every day."

“It’s been a positive weekend for the team. Today Miquel rode at a good level and was very close to the podium positions in both races. On the first lap, some mistakes prevented us from finishing in the top three, and in the second lap, the fiasco on the penultimate section affected the final result. Even so, we managed a fourth and a fifth place. Miquel and the RTL Electric's progress is clear, so we'll keep working to arrive at the final race aiming to close the season with a good result. Many thanks to Honda and the whole team for their hard work.”
