Gabriel Marcelli wraps up season with victory and runner-up spot

The 2026 TrialGP World Championship concluded on Sunday in Pobladura de las Regueras (León) with an exceptional finish for Repsol Honda HRC. Gabriel Marcelli delivered a memorable performance, claiming victory in the combined standings and securing the World Championship runner-up spot at the season's final event. Toni Bou completed a team one-two finish by taking second place overall for the day, capping off a historic season.
Marcelli started Race 1 determined to defend his one-point lead over Jaime Busto. He was locked in a battle for the win with teammate Bou, maintaining a high level throughout the course. The river sections proved decisive, and Marcelli used them to take the lead. With 14 penalty points, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider won the day's first race by three points.
The Repsol Honda rider demonstrated great consistency in Race 2, finishing with just two penalty points and leading the entire lap right up until the final section. Tied on points with Bou, he ultimately finished second. This result, combined with his victory in the first race, allowed him to secure the overall win for the day. It was Marcelli’s second TrialGP win, and confirmed him as 2026 World Championship runner-up.
Bou also contended for the win from the start of the day. He had an intense duel with Marcelli during the first race, though penalties in the river sections prevented him from holding the lead. He finished the lap in second place with 17 points, just three behind his teammate. Later, in 'Super Pole', he set the fastest time.
In the second race, Bou displayed the form that has allowed him to dominate the championship this season. The Montesa Cota 4RT rider completed the course with only two penalty points -tying with Marcelli- and won the final Race 2 of the season. The result secured him second place in the day's combined standings and completed another one-two finish for Repsol Honda HRC at Pobladura de las Regueras.
Repsol Honda HRC secured the top two spots in the overall TrialGP World Championship standings. Bou ends 2026 as World Champion, having claimed his 40th title (his 20th in TrialGP), while Marcelli finishes as runner-up. The next challenge for both riders awaits next week at the Trial of Nations, where they will team up with Jaime Busto to represent Spain.
