Bou and Marcelli secure further one-two finish in Cahors
CahorsThe World Championship leader maintains his perfect record for the season, while Gabriel Marcelli reclaims second place in the overall standings.
The TrialGP World Championship returned to action this Sunday in Cahors, France, after more than a month-long summer break. Toni Bou came into the fifth round of the season as the undisputed leader of the overall standings and once again demonstrated his dominance on a demanding day, amidst high temperatures. Repsol Honda HRC completed a fantastic weekend with another one-two finish, thanks to Bou's victory and Gabriel Marcelli's second-place.
From the first lap, Bou came back in impressive fashion. On a course where he was crowned TrialGP World Champion in 2024, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider once again made his mark. Although he made a few minor mistakes in the early sections that prevented him from starting with his usual dominance, he recovered well and, upon completing the 12 sections, was in the lead with only four penalty points, compared to the 12 accrued by the second-placed rider.
On the second lap, Bou maintained the impressive pace, despite pressure from his rivals and the tight time limit. Furthermore, the changes introduced in some sections increased the difficulty of the course and forced the riders to be extremely precise. He managed the situation well and once again came in first, completing another clean sweep of victories. Bou maintains his undefeated record in 2026, having won every race held since the beginning of the season. With 360 points, he tops the overall standings and will arrive in the Netherlands next weekend with his first mathematical chance of clinching the title again.
It was also a great day for Gabriel Marcelli, who showed solidity and consistency from the start on his Montesa Cota 4RT. He completed the first 12 sections among the leaders, and finished in second place -which allowed him to overtake Jaime Busto and reclaim second place in the overall standings.
In the second race, the Repsol Honda HRC rider was once again in contention for a podium finish. On a demanding day, both due to the difficulty of the sections and the high temperatures, Marcelli maintained consistency and minimised errors to take home another second-place finish. He was second in combined standings in the round at Cahors.
The TrialGP World Championship continues next weekend in Zelhem, the Netherlands, with the penultimate round of the season. Bou has the opportunity to clinch a milestone 40th world title. Marcelli, meanwhile, will start the race from second place in the overall standings with 263 points, aiming to consolidate his position.
