In 2013, Nirei Fukuzumi graduated Suzuka Circuit Racing School Formula, earning himself a scholarship. The next year he became Formula 4 FC class champion. After finishing the 2015 All Japan Formula 3 Championship fourth overall, Fukuzumi moved to the GP3 series in 2016, a stepping stone to Formula 1. In the opening round, he secured his place on the podium by finishing third, demonstrating his potential to the Spanish spectators and the world. He went on to finish second in Round 8, Malaysia, and third in Race 2 of the the final round in Saudi Arabia, for an overall seventh place for the season. In his 2017 GP3 season, Fukuzumi won Race 1 of the opening round, and went on to finish on the podium in six of the 15 races, to earn third overall. In 2018 he moved up to FIA F2, one step away from Formula 1, and also raced in SUPER FORMULA. In F2, he finished sixth in Hungary, a personal best. In his SUPER FORMULA debut at the opening round in Suzuka, he qualified second.

In 2019 Fukuzumi raced in the SUPER GT GT300 class, and won the championship in his NSX-GT3. He finished seventh in SUPER FORMULA that year. In 2020, moving up to the GT500 class, Fukuzumi and teammate Tomoki Nojiri were fifth overall. In SUPER FORMULA, he finished the season eighth.

Fukuzumi will continue to race with Nojiri in the GT500 class. In SUPER FORMULA, he will team up with Tadasuke Makino and aim to win the championship, but both finished in 2nd. In 2022, He moved to Threebond Drago CORSE in SUPER FORMULA.
