Round 9
Omura Fraga takes maiden pole position as Honda drivers lock out top five
Official qualifying for Round 9 of the Japanese SUPER FORMULA Championship was held at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture on Saturday 10 October, following a 12-week break.

Round 9 Qualifying
Qualifying began at 9:40 am, with an air temperature of 21°C and a track temperature of 30°C. Igor Omura Fraga (PONOS NAKAJIMA RACING) set a lap time of 1:21.714 to secure his first pole position in SUPER FORMULA. Kakunoshin Ohta (DOCOMO TEAM DANDELION RACING), who is closing in on the championship title, qualified P2, followed by rookie Yuto Nomura (San-Ei Gen with B-Max) in P3, Ayumu Iwasa (TEAM MUGEN AUTOBACS) in P4 and Tomoki Nojiri (TEAM MUGEN AUTOBACS) in P5. Honda/M-TEC-powered drivers thus locked out the top five positions on the starting grid.
