Ohta qualifies 2nd, Sato 3rd for round 7

The official qualifying session was started at 10:10 a.m., on 20 (Sun) in tyre-demanding conditions with the ambient and road surface temperatures at 30℃ and 46℃ respectively. In Q1 A-group, #64 Ren Sato (PONOS NAKAJIMA RACING) marked the top time immediately followed by #15 Iwasa (TEAM MUGEN) in 2nd, and then by #5 Tadasuke Makino (DOCOMO TEAM DANDELION RACING) in 5th. In Q1 B-group, #6 Ohta and #16 Tomoki Nojiri (TEAM MUGEN) shared the top two times in that order with #65 Igor Omura Fraga (PONOS NAKAJIMA RACING) sat in 4th.

A total of seven Honda-powered entrants made their way to Q2 in what turned out to be an extremely competitive session in which all twelve runners jostled against one another for the starting grid within a 0.5-sec bracket. #6 Ohta marked the 2nd best time, so did 3rd #64 Sato, and 5th #15 Iwasa. Unfortunately for #16 Nojiri who had finished 2nd yesterday, his best time (7th) was excluded due to an on-track infringement. This made him automatically relegated to the bottom grid of the Q2 qualifiers (12th), and #65 Omura Fraga and #5 Makino were moved up to 7th and 9th respectively.
