Second row start for Fernandez in Austria
Adrian Fernandez ends close Qualifying session at Spielberg in sixth place

In a session that saw the top-16 riders covered by less than one second, Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez claimed top Honda honours by setting the sixth fastest lap. This will see him start tomorrow’s Moto3 race, the first race back after the summer break, from the second row of the grid.
Team-mate David Almansa will be lining up one row behind, after ending Q2 in ninth place. The third Honda NSF250RW rider to have made it straight through to the second qualifying session, Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia), will be lining up in 15th place, despite being only 0.728 seconds shy of pole position. Rivacold Snipers Team’s Nicola Carraro was able to progress from Q1 to Q2 and will start tomorrow’s race from 18th.
Making his Moto3 debut, Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) demonstrated good pace in Q1 and ended the session in sixth place, outqualifying team-mate Stefano Nepa who was eighth. They will be lining up in 20th and 22nd positions on the grid tomorrow. Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team) will be taking the place between them after setting the seventh fastest time in Q1.
Behind them Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – MLav Racing) will be starting from 23rd place, with Arbi Aditama (Honda Team Asia) one place behind in 24th and Vicente Perez (GRYD – MLav Racing), who will have to serve two long lap penalties, will start from 26th.
Tomorrow’s 20 lap Austrian Moto3 race will get underway at the usual time of 11am (local time).
