Pratama powers to fifth in punishing Brno heat
CzechGP Moto3 race sees Honda Team Asia’s Veda Pratama progress from 20th to fifth, following grid penalty

Once again, the Moto3 riders faced scorching heat at Automotodrom Brno, as they tackled 16 laps around the Czech circuit. Honda Team Asia’s Veda Pratama, who was forced to start from 20th following a grid penalty, put on a masterful performance to fight for the podium and eventually cross the line in fifth place.
The Indonesian rider demonstrated his quick pace from the moment the lights went out, gaining nine places in the opening corners to move into 11th place, before joining the leading group of seven riders on lap 5. Pratama managed his tyres well to stay with this battle for the win throughout the remaining laps but ultimately could not secure a podium finish and crossed the line in fifth place.
At the head of the second group, the GRYD Racing pair of Joel Kelso and Eddie O’Shea enjoyed a battle between themselves for much of the race. It was Kelso who took the chequered flag eighth place and won the inter-team rivalry. Also finishing inside the points was Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez, who had been running as high as eighth before a mistake dropped him in the clutches of the pack behind, as he finished in 14th place.
Finishing just outside of the points was team-mate Guido Pini, Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Zen Mitani (Honda Team Asia) who were 16th, 17th and 19th respectively. Unfortunately, there were DNFs for O’Shea, who crashed out on the final lap, Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) and the SIC58 Squadra Corse duo of Leo Rammerstorfer and Casey O’Gorman.
There will be no rest for the Moto3 riders as they head straight to the Cathedral of Speed, TT Circuit Assen, for the Dutch Grand Prix (26-28 June).
