Phillip Island front row start for Lunetta
Luca Lunetta to start Moto3 race in Australia from third on the grid

Following on from his podium last time out in Indonesia, SIC58 Squadra Corse’s Luca Lunetta continued his good form and secured himself a front row start in Australia. Lunetta will start tomorrow’s Moto3 race at Phillip Island from third place on the grid.
Honda Team Asia’s Taiyo Furusato also had a strong qualifying session, keeping himself towards the top of the timing screens throughout the 15 minutes of Q2. The Japanese rider ended the session in fourth place, his best qualifying result of the season, and will head up the second row of the grid.
Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) had demonstrated good pace in yesterday’s practice sessions but was unable to keep himself in contention for a front row start today, ultimately ending Q2 in eighth place. Both Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Marco Morelli (GRYD – MLav Racing) took the long route to the second qualifying session, where they posted the 11th and 12th fastest times respectively.
Also in Q2, Rivacold Snipers Team’s Nicola Carraro ended the session in 15th place, while David Almansa (Leopard Racing), who will have to serve a long lap penalty in tomorrow’s race for causing a collision in the IndonesianGP, will line up on the grid in 18th.
It took until the end of the Q1 session for Eddie O’Shea to get a timed lap on the board. The GRYD – MLav Racing rider set the sixth fastest time, which will see him start from 20th place. The returning Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia) and Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team) were 11th and 12th respectively in the opening qualifying session.
Due to the predicted wind conditions tomorrow at Phillip Island, the schedule has been pushed back an hour. This will see the 21-lap Moto3 race get underway at midday local time.
