Ninth for Furusato at the Circuit of the Americas
Taiyo Furusato is the top Honda at the Circuit of the Americas for the third round of the Moto3 World Championship

The Circuit of the Americas welcomed the Moto3 World Championship this weekend, as the third round of the series travelled to Austin, America, where the 14-lap race got underway at 11am local time.
Taiyo Furusato was Honda’s top finisher crossing the line ninth aboard his Honda Team Asia NSF250RW, having meticulously worked his way through the pack from his starting position of 17th. Tatchakorn Buasri, Furusato’s teammate, was sidelined for today’s race following a heavy crash in qualifying he was declared unfit with a knee injury.
Meanwhile the Leopard Racing duo of Adrian Fernandez and David Almansa finished 12th and 13th respectively, after a gallant ride from Fernandez which saw him fight his way to 12th after having to start from the back of the grid. Picking up a double long lap penalty following a jump start, Fernandez had some work to do throughout the race to make up places, and in the closing stages he had tracked down Almansa and clinched 12th place ahead of his teammate. Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – Mlav Racing) finished his weekend 17th.
Nicola Carraro finished just in the points in 15th place, while his Rivacold Snipers teammate Riccardo Rossi crashed out on the third lap. It was disaster for the SIC58 Squadra Corse pairing of Stefano Nepa and Luca Lunetta who both crashed out of the running at the same corner in separate incidents.
After the weekend Honda’s Moto3 riders are sitting strong in the overall championship standings with Adrian Fernandez third, his Leopard Racing teammate Almansa is eighth, Nepa ninth, Furusato 10th and Lunetta 11th.
The next round of the Moto3 World Championship takes place on 11-13 April for the Grand Prix of Qatar.

It has been a tough week. Yesterday, I only managed two laps all day due to a mechanical issue in the morning and a mistake in qualifying. As a result, I wasn’t as prepared for the race as I normally would be on a race weekend.
To be honest, I’m not completely happy with how things went, but I still managed to finish P9. My goal was to reach P7, but I ran out of time. While this wasn’t the weekend I had hoped for, I still scored six points, which is better than my result in Thailand.
In Thailand, I had great speed and a strong weekend but ended up with zero points. So, I have to take the positives from this and keep looking ahead. We’ll shift our focus to the next race and continue working hard to improve.
