It was a mixed qualifying session for Honda’s riders today at the third round of the Moto3 World Championship, which saw the best weather so far of the weekend at the Circuit of the Americas, following yesterday’s wet practice sessions.

Top of the Honda riders in today’s qualifying was Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse), who lines up for tomorrow’s race on the second row of the grid in sixth place. A few positions behind sits Lunetta’s teammate Stefano Nepa in eighth place, having battled his way into Q2, finishing fourth in Q1.

Despite running with the front group in practice, Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) wrapped up qualifying ninth. Recovering from an early crash at turn eight, Riccardo Rossi starts 14th, with his Rivacold Snipers teammate Nicola Carraro back in 20th. Honda Team Asia’s riders’ line-up with Taiyo Furusato 17th and teammate Tatchakorn Buasri in 24th.

The weekend has so far been a struggle for David Almansa (Leopard Racing) who crashed out for the third time across the weekend in qualifying and subsequently starts the race from 18th. Meanwhile, Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – Mlav Racing) lines up 25th after experiencing a huge highside in Q1.

Tomorrow’s 14-lap race gets underway at 11.00 (local time) at the 3.426-mile Circuit of the Americas.
