GRYD Racing’s Joel Kelso battled to seventh in a race that delivered close competition over 20 laps. Starting from the front row as the leading Honda rider, Kelso was pushed back to P6 after a divebomb on the opening lap. He showed strong race pace and began fighting his way back into the top five.

Unfortunately, on lap one at Turn 14, both Leo Rammerstroffer (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) retired after a collision.

The remaining SIC58 Squadra Corse rider, Casey O’Gorman, who was the second-best Honda rider off the line from seventh, maintained a top-10 position alongside Eddie O’Shea (GRYD Racing). O’Shea also made a strong start, working his way up to 12th in the early stages.

At the halfway point, Kelso ran wide and dropped back to seventh after climbing to fourth. Shortly after, Adrian Fernandez of Leopard Racing received a long-lap penalty, compromising his race while battling around ninth and tenth.

At the chequered flag, Kelso secured seventh place to lead the Honda contingent home, with O’Gorman finishing as the second-highest Honda rider in 11th. Fernandez ended his race in 14th, just inside the points, while O’Shea was unable to maintain his early progress and crossed the line in 16th, narrowly missing out.

Veda Pratama and Zen Mitani of Honda Team Asia had a quiet race, bringing their machines home in 18th and 22nd respectively.

Guido Pini (Leopard Racing), Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team), and Zen Mitani (Honda Team Asia) all reached the chequered flag in 19th and 20th after enduring a challenging San Marino Grand Prix.

The 15th round of the Moto3 World Championship will see Honda-powered riders take on the high-speed challenge of the Red Bull Ring at the Austrian Grand Prix next weekend, 18–20 September.
