Honda’s Moto3 riders get to grips with Balaton in Qualifying
Leopard Racing’s Fernandez and Almansa inside the top

This weekend sees the Moto3 riders tackle Balaton Park for the first time, with the Hungarian circuit a new addition to the MotoGP calendar for this year. Today’s Qualifying sessions took place in warm, dry conditions, which helped the NSF250RW riders get to grips with the tight circuit layout.
Both Leopard Racing riders had done enough in yesterday’s Practice session to make it straight through to Q2, with Adrian Fernandez proving to be the quickest of the Honda riders in ninth place. Team-mate David Almansa will be starting tomorrow’s race one place behind in 10th.
Also joining Almansa on the fourth row of the grid will be Honda Team Asia’s Taiyo Furusato, who had an eventful couple of Qualifying sessions. The Japanese rider topped Q1 but experienced a Turn 1 highside with just over two minutes left on the clock in Q2. He was able to remount though and ended the session in 12th place.
The Rivacold Snipers Team duo of Nicola Carraro and Riccardo Rossi also went directly through to Q2, setting the 13th and 18th fastest times respectively.
Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) continued making good personal progress, after making his debut last time out, and ended Q1 in fifth place – only 0.048 seconds shy of progressing into the second session.
Meanwhile, Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – MLav Racing) was 22nd in the combined Qualifying results, with Arbi Aditama (Honda Team Asia) 23rd, Leonardo Abruzzo (GRYD – MLav Racing) 25th and Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse) 26th.
Due to a grid penalty for Marcos Uriarte, tomorrow’s 20-lap Moto3 race, which gets underway at 11am local time, will see Rossi promoted to 17th place on the grid with O’Gorman 18th, O’Shea 21st, Aditama 22nd, Abruzzo 24th and Nepa 25th.
