Home-hero Furusato fifth in qualifying at Motegi
Furusato and Fernandez on the second row of the grid for Honda’s home race

With the support of his home crowds at the Motegi circuit, home-hero Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) was hoping to provide fans with a strong performance in qualifying today for the Japanese GP. Furusato was able to find a good pace and will start what is also Honda’s home race from fifth place.
Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez, who was on the podium last time out in Misano, made sure that there will be two NSF250RWs on the second row of the grid tomorrow, setting the sixth fastest time. Team-mate David Almansa will be one row behind in ninth place, while SIC58 Squadra Corse’s Luca Lunetta will be lining up on the grid in 14th.
Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Marco Morelli (GRYD – MLav Racing) had to take the long way to Q2, with the pair both progressing from Q1. They will start tomorrow’s race from 15th and 16th places respectively.
Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – MLav Racing) was unlucky to not make it through Q1, losing time on his final flying lap and ending the session in fifth place. This will see him occupy the 19th grid place, while Arbi Aditama (Honda Team Asia) will start in 20th and Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team) in 23rd. Unfortunately, Rossi’s team-mate Nicola Carraro has withdrawn from the event due to illness.
Tomorrow’s 17-lap Moto3 race around Mobility Resort Motegi will get underway at 11am local time.
