Front row in Aragon for Lunetta
Luca Lunetta misses out on pole by only 0.026 seconds

SIC58 Squadra Corse’s Luca Lunetta proved to be the top Honda in today’s qualifying at Aragon, with the Italian rider posting the second fastest time, which was only 0.026 seconds shy of pole position, and securing a place on the front of the row for tomorrow’s race.
Aragon is already a happy hunting ground for Lunetta, who claimed his maiden podium at the circuit last year, and it showed today with fast times throughout Q2, where he was the first rider to lap within the 1min 56secs. Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) also proved to have good pace in the hot conditions, coming through from Q1 in third place to ultimately end Q2 in fifth, which will translate to a place on the second row of the grid.
It was a tough day for the Leopard Racing duo of David Almansa and Adrian Fernandez, who both experienced crashes in the second Qualifying session of the day. In the closing stages of the session Almansa had an incident in Turn 7, although he was able to end Q2 in seventh place, while Fernandez had a Turn 10 crash early on and was unable to set a time.
Rivacold Snipers Team’s Nicola Carraro had also done enough yesterday to make it straight through to Q2, but an issue at the beginning of the session meant that he couldn’t join the pack of riders on his first run, missing out on the slipstream advantage that can prove crucial around this circuit. Carraro ended the session in 16th place.
Stefano Nepa (SIC58 Squadra Corse) was unfortunate to not progress from Q1, with times proving to be extremely tight at the top and will start tomorrow’s race from 20th on the grid. The row behind will be an all-Honda affair with Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia), Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – MLav Racing) in 22nd, 23rd and 24th places respectively. Marcos Uriarte makes his return to the GRYD – MLav Racing squad this weekend and will line up in 26th place.
Tomorrow’s 17-lap Moto3 race at MotorLand Aragon will get underway at 11am local time.

I’m really enjoying riding the bike at the moment and when you enjoy the bike the results are there. I’m enjoying every moment, every corner and every second. The past two or three races I have felt good, and we have recovered the good feelings that I had at the start of the season and the final races of last year. After the test in Le Mans, we made a little step forward and I have also made a little step. I’m really happy to be on the front row and I’m looking to enjoy the race tomorrow. This is a special circuit for me as I had my first podium here and I like it a lot. I just plan to enjoy tomorrow and see what happens.
