Fourth row start for Almansa at Mugello
David Almansa top Honda qualifier at Mugello

This weekend the Moto3 World Championship is back in action for the ninth round at Italy’s iconic Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello. Located in the beautiful countryside of Tuscany, Mugello offers a blend of slow and fast turns with sweeping curves, long straights and off-camber corners across 5.245kms.
Qualifying took place in hot conditions this morning, where Leopard Racing’s David Almansa placed as the top Honda rider and will line up on the fourth row of the grid in 10th place ahead of tomorrow’s 17-lap race. Almansa’s weekend got off to a flying start, where in yesterday’s practice the Spaniard topped the times and progressed straight into today’s Q2 session.
Awash with Honda riders, the fourth row also features Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) in 11th, with Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) competing the trio in 12th.
Just a row behind is Alamana’s Leopard Racing teammate Adrian Fernandez in 13th, and Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse) 14th. Vicente Perez (GRYD – MLav) lines up 17th and the last of the Q2 riders was Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team), who starts from 18th.
Unable to break into Q2, Stefano Nepa finished Q1 in sixth, and will start the race from 20th, ahead of GRYD – MLav Racing’s Eddie O’Shea in 22nd, meanwhile Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia) will start from 25th.
Tomorrow’s 17-lap Moto3 race at Mugello, will get underway at 11am local time.
