Fourth for fast Fernandez at Jerez

After demonstrating good speed aboard his Honda NSF250RW throughout the race, Adrian Fernandez ended the Moto3 race at Jerez in fourth place.

The Leopard Racing rider kept himself in contention for the duration of the 19-lap race around Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto, battling hard in the chasing pack before claiming fourth with an impressive overtake on Ryusei Yamanaka into the final corner of the last lap.

Also in that group of riders was Honda Team Asia’s Taiyo Furusato, who had a strong start to the race with several places gained on the opening lap and a series of laps that matched the leading trio’s pace. The Japanese rider crossed the line in sixth place.

Also finishing inside the points was Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse) in 11th, who spent the majority of the race heading up the next group of riders on track, team-mate Stefano Nepa in 14th and Tatchakorn Buasri (Honda Team Asia) one place behind in 15th. Just outside of the points, GRYD – MLav Racing’s Adrian Cruces took the chequered flag in 17th place.

Unfortunately, there were crashes for David Almansa (Leopard Racing), the Rivacold Snipers Team pairing of Nicola Carraro and Riccardo Rossi, and Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – MLav Racing).

There will be a short break for the Moto3 riders, before racing resumes at Le Mans, France on 9-11 May.
