Despite some strong performances, Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez could only manage to be the eighth fastest rider in Qualifying at Aragon, where the finest of margins separated the riders, which will see him start tomorrow’s race from the third row of the grid.

Faced with a track that was rapidly approaching 50C, Honda’s lightweight riders were mostly setting their times in large groups, while trying to avoid the two yellow flags that came out during the Q2 session. Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) were only hundredths of seconds slower than Fernandez, and they will line up in tenth and 11^th places respectively.

There was disappointment for SIC58 Squadra Corse’s Casey O’Gorman, who had been challenging for the front row of the grid throughout Q2. The Irish rider looked set to be at the sharp end but while other riders made large gains on their final flying lap, O’Gorman was unable to do so and ended the session in 14^th place. Joel Kelso (GRYD Racing) was the other Honda rider in action in the second qualifying session of the day, posting the 15^th fastest lap.

There were five Honda riders who took part in the earlier Q1 session, where Eddie O’Shea (GRYD Racing) was challenging for a top-four spot, but was pushed out by another rider in the final moments. O’Shea will start the race from 19^th place and will have to serve a long lap penalty, while Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) will line up in 22^nd with Leo Rammerstorfer (SIC58 Squadra Corse) joining him on that row in 24^th. Further behind, Zen Mitani (Honda Team Asia) and Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) will be on the row behind in 25^th and 26^th places respectively.

Tomorrow’s Moto3 race at MotorLand Aragon will take place over 17 laps and will get underway at the usual time of 11am local time.
