Today’s Moto3 race at new circuit Balaton Park in Hungary saw the Leopard Racing duo of Adrian Fernandez and David Almansa try their hardest to close on the leading pack. Eight riders were initially able to break away from the main field, but the pair pushed their pace and were able to reel in some of the riders ahead. At the chequered flag Fernandez was sixth, with Almansa one place behind in seventh.

Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) also put in strong performances to progress through the field during the 20-lap race. Both were able to finish inside the points, with Carraro 12^th and O’Gorman 13^th, which were the first championship points for the Irish rider.

Although Stefano Nepa finished outside of the top 15, the SIC58 Squadra Corse rider was able to make good progress from his original grid position of 25^th. When the chequered flag was waved Nepa had managed to climb to 17^th place. Further back Riccardo Rossi (Rivacold Snipers Team) finished the race in 19^th position, with Arbi Aditama (Honda Team Asia) in 20^th place and Leonardo Abruzzo (GRYD – MLav Racing) 21^st after serving a long lap penalty for taking a shortcut.

Honda Team Asia’s Taiyo Furusato had looked strong during the race, helping Fernandez to work to close the gap to the leading group. However, the Japanese rider had a Turn 2 crash with four laps to go. Eddie O’Shea (GRYD – MLav Racing) was also unable to finish the race, retiring on lap 5 after being shown the black and orange flag.

The Honda NSF250RW riders will enjoy a short break before the upcoming double header of Catalunya (5-7 September) and Misano (12-14 September).
