Fernandez claims his first podium finish of 2026
Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez holds off hard-charging competitors to claim second place at Jerez

Sunny and warm conditions once again greeted the Moto3 riders at Jerez, where their race did not disappoint, with plenty of battles throughout and a sprint to the line for the podium places.
Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez was immediately within the podium fight and hunted down the leader on track, taking that position for himself on the seventh lap. The Spaniard controlled the race until Lap 15 where the soft rear tyre started to show signs of wear. Not one to give up, Fernandez defended hard and secured second place at the chequered flag following an exciting drag race to the line.
Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) also demonstrated impressive race craft as he made his way through the field from 17th on the grid, enjoying a good battle with Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) on his way to sixth place. Rios, who had started the race in 19th place, also scythed his way through the pack to cross the line in seventh place. Unfortunately, he received a two-position penalty for causing contact during the race.
SIC58 Squadra Corse’s Casey O’Gorman was also able to gain some places during the 19-lap race, finishing in 12th place, while the GRYD – MLav Racing duo of Joel Kelso and Eddie O’Shea were 14th and 18th respectively, and Honda Team Asia’s Zen Mitani was 21st. Unfortunately, there were crashes for Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Guido Pini (Leopard Racing), while a problem on the grid meant that Leo Rammerstorfer (SIC58 Squadra Corse) did not start the race.
The Moto3 riders will now have a short break before racing action continues with the double header of the French Grand Prix (8-10 May) followed by the Catalan Grand Prix (15-17 May).

This podium is really important because the last few races have been difficult. Now, I have been training with my brother and that has helped me achieve this position. It’s incredible to be on the podium here at Jerez in front of the Spanish people and I want to say ‘thank you’ to all of the people supporting me here.
