Fernandez claims front row in Buriram

Adrian Fernandez will start the first Moto3 race of the season from the front row of the grid, after ending today’s Qualifying at Chang International Circuit in third place. There were also stand out performances for rookie Veda Pratama, Guido Pini and Casey O’Gorman.

In Q1 it was the GRYD – MLav Racing pairing of Eddie O’Shea and Joel Kelso who set the pace early on, in a session where the smallest of margins made the difference between progressing to Q2 or not. With bikes bunched in the final few minutes it was Kelso who secured one of the important top four places, to ensure he would be riding in the next session.

Team-mate O’Shea was sixth at the end of Q1, with rookie Leo Rammerstorfer (SIC58 Squadra Corse) ninth, Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team) tenth and Honda Team Asia’s Zen Mitani 12th.

The second Qualifying session of the day saw Leopard Racing’s Adrian Fernandez and rookie Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) in contention for a front row start, with both riders demonstrating good speed early on. When the chequered flag waved at the end of the session Fernandez had done enough to claim third place, while Pratama was fifth.

There were strong performances also from Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) and Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse), who ended the session in ninth and tenth places respectively. Joel Kelso will start tomorrow’s race from 16th place, while Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) will be lining up just behind in 17th.

The opening Moto3 race of the 2026 season will be run over 19 laps and will get underway at midday local time tomorrow.
