Furusato close to Q2 as Roulstone continues learning in Hungary
The Moto2 World Championship completed qualifying day for the Hungarian Grand Prix under sunny skies and warm temperatures at Balaton Park Circuit. For Idemitsu Honda Team Asia riders Taiyo Furusato and Jacob Roulstone, Saturday represented another important step in their adaptation to both the demanding Hungarian venue and the Moto2 category.

During the morning's FP2 session, Furusato showed encouraging progress and reduced the gap to the riders ahead, finishing 21st and building confidence ahead of qualifying. On the other side of the garage, Roulstone continued his learning process during his first weekend with the team, ending the session in 28th position after losing valuable track time following a crash.
In Qualifying 1, Furusato came extremely close to securing a place in Q2. The Japanese rookie produced a strong performance and finished sixth in the session, missing the cut by only a small margin. He will start Sunday's race from 20th position on the grid and remains optimistic about fighting his way towards the points.
Meanwhile, Roulstone continued making steady progress despite the difficulties experienced throughout the day. The Australian rider finished 12th in Q1 and will line up 26th on the grid for his Moto2 World Championship debut with the team. While there is still work to do, both riders remain motivated to continue improving and give their maximum effort in Sunday's race.

Today was an important day for both riders. In the morning, we focused mainly on race preparation, trying some different setup options and completing longer runs. Unfortunately, Jacob had a crash, which reduced his track time and made things more difficult for the rest of the day.
For Jacob, everything is still very new. He needs more understanding of the bike and more confidence with the package, while we also continue learning about his riding style and preferences. The race tomorrow will be another valuable opportunity for him to gain experience.
Taiyo made another positive step forward today. He looked more confident on the bike and was able to push harder compared to yesterday. In the end, he missed Q2 by only a small margin, which shows that he is moving in the right direction. He must continue working this way and keep building his confidence. Hopefully tomorrow he can make another step and have a strong race.

Today was a positive day overall because I feel that we made another step forward compared to yesterday. From the morning session I felt more comfortable with the bike and I was able to ride closer to the limit. The gap to the front is becoming smaller and that gives me confidence.
Of course, I am a little disappointed because Q2 was very close. Missing the cut by such a small margin is frustrating, especially when you know that only a few tenths can change everything in Moto2. At the same time, it shows that we are getting closer to where we want to be. Starting from P20 is not ideal, but I believe we have the pace to fight with the riders around us and try to move forward. Tomorrow I will give everything to fight for the best result possible.

It was a tricky day for me. I had quite a big crash this morning, which left me a bit sore and also cost us some valuable track time. That made the rest of the day more challenging because every lap is important when you're learning a new bike, a new team and a new circuit all at the same time.
This afternoon I was still struggling quite a lot under braking, which affects the entire corner and makes it difficult to ride the way I normally would. However, I have confidence in the team and I know we can continue improving the bike together. Even if the position isn't where we want it to be yet, we're gathering important information every session. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's race, gaining more experience and collecting valuable data that can help us during the next rounds as well.
