Furusato Finishes P20 the CatalanGP Race
The Moto2 race at the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalunya marked another important learning weekend for Idemitsu Honda Team Asia at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. Taiyo Furusato was the team’s sole representative in Barcelona after Mario Aji was forced to withdraw from the event due to injury.

Starting from 23rd on the grid, the young Japanese rookie made a strong start and quickly gained positions during the opening laps, placing himself inside the fight around the top twenty and staying close to the points battle. Furusato continued pushing throughout the race and ultimately crossed the finish line in 20th position, showing another step forward in his adaptation to the Moto2 category.
Although the result did not yet translate into points, the overall progression during the weekend remained positive. Furusato once again gained valuable experience in race conditions while continuing to improve his understanding of the bike and tyre management. Now the focus shifts to the next round of the championship at Mugello in two weeks’ time.

Today’s Moto2 race has been completed and it was quite a steady race for Taiyo. Starting from 23rd position, he made a very good start and immediately recovered positions to move into 21st and then 20th place during the opening laps. However, from the beginning until the middle part of the race, his pace was not enough to fight for the points positions. In the final laps, when the tyre drop became more significant, his lap times were actually similar to some riders inside the top positions, which is positive. This means he still needs to better understand how to maximise the performance of the new tyres and improve the first half of the race. It was a long race for him, but finishing the race and continuing to gain experience is very important. We hope to make another step forward in Mugello.

Today was another important race for me in terms of experience and understanding the Moto2 category better. The start was quite good and I was able to recover some positions early in the race, which was positive compared to previous weekends.Of course we still need more pace to fight consistently closer to the points positions, especially during the first part of the race, but I feel we are moving step by step in the right direction. The team continues working very hard to help me improve and I really appreciate all their effort. We will keep pushing, keep learning and continue building confidence because I believe the results will come if we continue working this way.
