Determination Without Reward: Aji and Kunii Show Heart in Final Moto2 Race

es Circuit Ricardo Tormo

The final race of the 2025 season delivered a strong display of resilience from both Mario Aji and Yuki Kunii, who each gained six positions in a demanding race. Aji, riding with his best feeling since returning from injury, pushed consistently and closed the gap to the battle for points, ultimately finishing 17th. His pace and confidence marked a meaningful step forward after a mentally challenging year.

Kunii also produced a solid performance in what was his final race with the team, climbing to 20th position and delivering a clean, determined race from lights to flag. While both riders and the team had hoped to close the season inside the points, the improvements shown on track highlighted their effort and commitment. Sometimes the season does not end with the result desired, but the pride in the work done remains unquestionable.

The Moto2 race today was a long survival race. Both riders worked hard, pushed hard, and tried to achieve a better position in very critical conditions. Many riders crashed, and finally we finished in 17th and 20th position. It’s not what we wanted, but I think they gave their maximum effort.
I want to say thanks to all the IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia staff and to our sponsors for their continuous support through the season. We could not end it in the best way, but as the 2025 season finishes today, we now turn the page and look ahead.
Next year we will start with new riders and new goals. A new season means new opportunities, and of course, we want to improve and be better. Thank you to all our supporters, especially from Asia. We will work hard to come back stronger next season.

It was the best sensation I’ve had since the injury, especially this weekend. I know we didn’t get the result yet, but I’ve been learning how to manage myself and how I ride. It wasn’t enough today, but the base is good, and I cannot be disappointed.
I want to really thank my team, they gave everything they had, and it’s a shame I couldn’t give them back the result they deserved. But finishing the season with good sensations is important — we are almost there. Now I need to keep my head down, work hard this winter, and the results next year will show how much effort I put in.
First I need a bit of time at home to reset, because this year was mentally tough after the injury. Next year is the time. I don’t want to talk, I want to show it with work. Thank you to everyone.

In my last race with the team, I really wanted to give everything, and I think today we did a solid job. Starting far back is never easy in Moto2, but I stayed calm, avoided the chaos, and step by step we moved forward. Gaining six positions and finishing P20 is not a dream result, but it’s a race I can be proud of.
This team welcomed me, supported me, and believed in me, and I wanted to close this chapter with respect and gratitude. Every lap today I was thinking about the people who worked with me this season — mechanics, staff, and everyone in the box. I leave with good memories, important lessons, and a lot of appreciation. Thank you for giving me the chance to race again at this level. I hope I made you proud.
