IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders Mario Suryo Aji and Yuki Kunii just wrapped up the 15th round of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship at the always iconic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain.

IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia Completes the CatalanGP After a Difficult Race in Barcelona

It was a chaotic race from the start. After a difficult launch, Mario Aji dropped to the back of the grid and had to fight from the last position. The Indonesian rookie struggled to find his rhythm in the early laps but kept pushing until the end, bringing the bike home and gaining valuable race mileage in his return to competition.

For Yuki Kunii, the challenge came early. After making a positive start, the Japanese rider was involved in a crash on lap twelve at Turn 1. Despite the setback, he managed to rejoin the race and continue, showing determination to complete the distance. In the end, both IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders crossed the finish line – the main objective after such a complicated day.

The focus now shifts quickly to Misano, where next weekend's San Marino Grand Prix will provide a new opportunity to improve and fight for better results.

For Moto2 today the weather conditions were really tricky, and the lap times were around one second slower than usual. Both riders struggled a bit in these circumstances. Mario, especially, found it difficult to manage his pace after being away from racing for a long time, so he couldn't perform as he expected.
Yuki had a good start and was catching the group ahead, but unfortunately he crashed on lap twelve at Turn 1. He managed to pick up the bike and rejoin, but it was a difficult race for him. The positive thing is that he escaped without injury, while Mario was able to finish the race and confirm that physically he is completely fine. Now we move on to Misano next weekend with the aim to improve and fight for better results.

We started the weekend with an unexpected level of speed. On Friday and Saturday the pace was there, but after three months away from racing and coming back into such a high intensity, it was normal to struggle a bit to follow the rhythm of the other riders during the race. The positive point is that the potential is there  I just need to be patient.
I'm not worried about the next race. My focus is on regaining my full race speed, staying concentrated, and working closely with the team to catch up with the others. Today the main goal was simply to finish and collect as much experience as possible on the bike again, and we achieved that.
I want to thank my team for the constant support since day one, and also everyone who keeps supporting me. The result wasn't what we hoped for, but I'm grateful to be back on track after a long break, and I can't wait for the next race.

Today was not the race I wanted. In the beginning I felt quite good, but compared to yesterday I had no real feeling with the bike. I struggled a lot with the front tyre, and after ten laps the grip dropped completely, making it very difficult to manage. At one point I crashed, but luckily my body is okay, and I could bring the bike to the finish.
It was not an easy weekend, but there were also some positive moments to take away. The result is not what I was aiming for, but we learned important things, and next time we will focus on improving this weakness.
