IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders Yuki Kunii and Nakarin Atiratphuvapat have just completed the qualifying day of the 14th round of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship at Balaton Park in Hungary. It was a day where adjustments were needed to reduce the gap with the riders ahead. During the morning session, things didn’t go as planned as both riders repeated their results from Friday and finished the last practice session in 27th and 28th position.

Then after some work with the team, the riders went ready to attack during Q1. Yuki Kunii improved his lap time by about a second compared to Friday’s practice session, which allowed him to gain positions and tomorrow he will start the race in 25th position on the grid. Meanwhile, teammate Chip Nakarin also improved his lap times, but couldn’t secure a better place on the grid. Still, both riders began to find their pace this weekend and remain optimistic that tomorrow they can fight to enter the group battling for points. On a new circuit, anything can happen, and proper tyre management and race strategy will be crucial.

After the Moto2 qualifying session I can say that today the conditions were a little better and the lap times improved for everyone. Yuki Kunii managed to go about one second faster than yesterday, which gave him a small step forward to P25. Nakarin also improved his lap time compared to yesterday.
It seems both riders found some important feelings with the bike and the tyres, which is a positive step. Of course, the gap to the front is still there, and we need to keep catching up. I hope tomorrow they can continue to progress in the race and achieve a better result here on Hungarian soil.

Today was the second day here in Hungary. Compared to yesterday, I improved my feeling a lot and started to understand the track better. Of course, we are still quite far from the top, but I managed to improve my lap time and today’s qualifying was my best so far this weekend. It’s a new track and a new race, so anything can happen tomorrow. I will stay focused, try my best, and hopefully make another step forward in the race.

Compared to yesterday my feeling with the bike improved, and we managed to go about one second faster. In the morning I wasn’t fully confident and I struggled in some corners, but thanks to the team I could improve my riding style and feeling with the bike.
Now I’m focused on racing properly, managing the tyres better than in Austria. It’s important to push at the beginning but not go crazy – the key will be to give everything until the end. Now it’s time to analyse the data and find the best strategy for tomorrow’s race.
