Kunii Finishes 23rd and Atiratphuvapat 25th at the Italian Grand Prix
IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders Yuki Kunii and Nakarin Atiratphuvapat have completed Round 9 of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in Italy. Under the blazing Tuscan sun, both riders gave their maximum effort in a demanding race with the aim of continuing their development in the category.

Kunii, who started from 23rd on the grid, tried to maintain a steady pace and close the gap to the points zone. However, as the laps went by, he struggled to stay consistent and began to lose contact with the group ahead. He ultimately crossed the finish line in 23rd place, the same position from which he started. It was a challenging race, and there's still work to do to close the performance gap in future rounds.
Teammate Nakarin Atiratphuvapat showed signs of improvement in what was just his second race in the Moto2 class. After an unfortunate qualifying session placed him at the back of the grid, the Thai rider remained focused and consistent throughout the race. He managed to gain three positions and finished the race in 25th place, a small but encouraging step forward.
While both riders are still searching for their first points of the season, the team is beginning to see improvements in key areas. With just a few days to reset, attention now turns to the next challenge — the historic TT Circuit Assen, which hosts Round 10 in just one week's time. The focus remains on building confidence, refining race performance, and continuing to push for stronger results.

It was a tough race day in Mugello for our Moto2 riders. The conditions were hot and demanding for both the machines and the riders. Yuki and Nakarin gave their best effort and tried to manage the distance, but it wasn't easy. Yuki finished in 23rd, and Nakarin in 25th — not the result we were hoping for. Compared to qualifying, where one or two laps can be pushed to the limit, managing race pace over the full distance was more of a struggle. We saw some small steps forward, but there's still a clear gap we need to close. We'll work hard in the short time before Assen to continue improving. Thanks as always to our staff, sponsors, and supporters. We keep pushing.

I'm really disappointed with today's race. Until yesterday, the weekend had actually been going quite well, and I had a better feeling compared to previous races. I felt more confident. But in the race, I made a mistake at the start and lost a lot of positions. From there, I struggled to recover and couldn't perform at my best. The pace wasn't where it needed to be, and that's frustrating. Still, there are positives. I'm starting to build confidence with the bike, and I learned a lot this weekend. Now I need to focus on starting strong from Friday in Assen and staying fully concentrated when it matters most.

This race in Mugello was a big learning experience for me. Compared to Aragón, I improved my lap time by almost one second, and I feel more confident on the Moto2 bike now. I'm starting to understand the bike and how to manage the race better. Yesterday's crash in qualifying was unfortunate and affected my starting position, but today I stayed focused and tried to bring the bike home while learning as much as possible. I'm happy about my small improvements, and I believe I can continue to build from here. I'll keep working hard to close the gap step by step.
