Encouraging Steps Forward for IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia in Moto2 Qualifying
IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders Yuki Kunii and Nakarin Atiratphuvapat just finished the qualifying day of Round 8 of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship at MotorLand Aragón, Spain. This weekend marks the debut of Nakarin in the Moto2 class with the team, in a historic moment for Thai motorcycling.

In an extremely hot and sunny Saturday, both riders showed clear improvement, reducing their lap times considerably from Friday to Saturday. However, this improvement did not fully reflect in terms of grid position.
Yuki Kunii was able to ride closer to the top 20, significantly reducing the gap to the riders ahead. His pace showed promise for Sunday’s race, but when it came time for his final push in qualifying, he was unable to deliver the lap he hoped for and did not advance to Q2. He will start tomorrow’s race from the 26th position on the grid.
Meanwhile, debutant Nakarin Atiratphuvapat improved by nearly two seconds from his best time on Friday. He is still adapting to the Moto2 machine and category, but his steady progress continues. With more laps and race experience, the Thai rider is learning quickly and showing great commitment, and the team hopes he can make another step forward in Sunday’s race.

Today we completed the Moto2 qualifying session, and both riders showed improvement from yesterday. Yuki Kunii gained more confidence with the bike and a better feeling with the tyres. He was able to close the gap to the front, which is an important step forward. While he couldn’t quite put together his best lap today, we believe he has the potential to do better in tomorrow’s race.
For Nakarin, it’s only his second day riding the Moto2 bike, and there’s still a lot of room for improvement. He made good progress from yesterday to today, and tomorrow’s race will be a valuable experience for him to understand the bike even more. Let’s see how both riders perform in race conditions tomorrow.

Today was qualifying day. In the morning, my feeling on the bike was slightly better than yesterday, but I’m still struggling a bit, especially with the track conditions. The rear tire dropped off a lot, and I had difficulty maintaining grip, but I stayed focused and did my best.
In qualifying, I pushed hard and I’m satisfied with my first run. I gave it everything I had. On the second attack, however, the track position wasn’t ideal, and I made several mistakes, so I couldn’t improve my lap time. Despite that, I’m staying positive. This track is really demanding on tires, so tomorrow my goal is to manage tire wear carefully and do my best in the race.

Today was my second day on the Moto2 bike, and I felt better compared to Free Practice. In qualifying, I focused on improving my riding style—especially the transition from the 1000cc bike to the Moto2 machine, which is quite a big difference. I’ve been learning a lot about body position and how to lean the bike properly.
I managed to improve from the last session and could follow other riders on track, which helped me understand more. I’m happy with my lap time today, even if it’s still not enough. I know I need to adapt more quickly, but overall, it’s a valuable experience and I’m enjoying being here. I’ll keep working and try to do even better in tomorrow’s race.
