Yuki Kunii Finishes 20th at the British Grand Prix After a Tough Race in Silverstone
IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia has concluded the seventh round of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship at the historic Silverstone Circuit. It was a challenging weekend for the team, marked by the absence of Mario Suryo Aji, who was sidelined after suffering a shoulder dislocation during Free Practice 1 on Friday.

With Aji unable to participate, the team’s efforts were solely represented by Yuki Kunii. The Japanese rider gave his all to close the gap to the leading group, steadily working his way up through the field. After a determined ride, Kunii crossed the finish line in 20th place, gaining three positions from his starting spot.
Despite not scoring points, it was a respectable result in difficult circumstances, and a step forward in Kunii’s development. His commitment and determination throughout the race reflected the team’s spirit and resilience.
The focus now shifts to the next round of the championship, which will take place in Aragon, Spain. The team is hopeful for further progress from Kunii and wishes Mario Aji a smooth and speedy recovery. We look forward to having him back with us soon, fighting fit for the second half of the season.

We just finished the Moto2 race at Silverstone. Overnight rain meant the track wasn’t fully dry in the morning, but fortunately it dried out just before the race. Still, the conditions were quite windy and not easy for anyone.
Yuki started from P23, and from the beginning, he gave his best pace—almost matching his qualifying lap time during the race. He was gaining positions steadily and at one point was in the group fighting for 15th and the final point.
This was a clear step forward, showing progress in both pace and race management. Unfortunately, in the final laps he lost some ground and finished 20th, but the overall performance was better than in recent races. We’ll take the positives from today and keep working to continue this improvement. Now, we look forward to the next round.

We’ve finished race day, and overall, I’m quite happy with what I did in the race. Yes, the result may show me at the back, but the feeling I had today on the bike was completely different compared to before, and that’s a positive thing.
In the early stages of the race, I was in the group fighting for 15th, and I could actually see the points within reach. But I felt like something was missing from the bike, and eventually, I lost touch with the group. After that, I rode alone for most of the race.
Even so, I’m feeling positive about the progress we made today, and I’m happy with the direction we’re heading. This gives me confidence going into the next race, and I’ll do my best to keep improving.
