Effort without reward: Kunii finished 22nd at the French GP in Le Mans
IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia completed the Round 6 of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship at the historic Le Mans Circuit. Yuki Kunii, who had shown steady improvement from Friday through Saturday, faced a challenging race under tricky and unpredictable conditions.

Despite the race being officially declared dry, earlier rainfall left parts of the track damp, making it difficult for riders to deliver their best performance. Kunii struggled to find a consistent rhythm throughout the race and was unable to close the gap to the points-scoring positions. He eventually crossed the line in 22nd place.
Now, the focus shifts to the upcoming test day this Tuesday at Le Mans. It will be a valuable opportunity for Kunii to continue adapting to the Moto2 machine, work on his weaker areas, and further refine the setup ahead of the next round.
Looking ahead, all eyes turn to the legendary Silverstone Circuit, which will host Round 7 of the championship in two weeks’ time. The team also hopes to welcome back Mario Suryo Aji for the British GP, adding strength to the lineup and boosting their chances of scoring important points in the championship battle.

It was not an easy day for Yuki Kunii. The conditions were quite cold after the rain, so the track changed, and that didn’t give him a good feeling. He was struggling from Lap 1 and couldn’t ride as well as he did yesterday.
He had a hard time understanding the track situation and adapting to the conditions. Later in the race, he started to get his pace back, but it was too late. There were also a couple of mistakes, and at the end, the rider in front of him crashed, costing him a lot of time.
So overall, things didn’t go well in the race at all. The positive side is that we’ll stay here tomorrow for testing. We have things to work on, and hopefully we can help him regain confidence and go faster. Let’s see how things go in the next round in the UK.

This was the last day, and we finished the race. I'm really disappointed in myself because I had no feeling at all at the beginning and struggled right from the start. I was a bit confused because from the middle of the race to the end, I started to feel better again. So I’m disappointed that I couldn’t perform well from the beginning.
Anyway, the race is done, and now we have a test day here. I want to use that to improve, find a better setup, and improve myself. I hope I can do much better at Silverstone. The team has been working hard for me all weekend, and they have some ideas for the test. I hope it works out.
