Progress for Kunii, but Work Still to Do at Le Mans
IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia completed the qualifying day of Round 6 of the Moto2 World Championship at the iconic Le Mans Circuit.

Yuki Kunii made a clear step forward from practice, improving his lap time by nearly a full second compared to yesterday. However, it wasn’t enough, as most riders also made significant gains, resulting in a highly competitive field.
Unable to advance to Q2, Kunii will start Sunday’s race from 25th on the grid. This makes tomorrow’s task even more challenging, but the goal remains the same: to get a strong start, show his pace, and steadily fight for positions throughout the race.

Today’s qualifying was held under similar conditions as yesterday — cold and windy. Yuki Kunii did improve his lap time, which is a positive sign. However, all riders stepped up today, so his position didn’t change significantly.
The good part is that Yuki is starting to better understand the bike and this track. His confidence is growing, and we could see that in his pace today. The gap to Q2 was only 0.6 seconds — not a huge margin, but this class is extremely tight. There are still areas we need to improve, but tomorrow’s race presents a great opportunity to make progress. Let’s see how Yuki performs and how many positions he can recover.

We’ve finished qualifying here at Le Mans and I ended up P25. Honestly, I’m satisfied with the progress we made today — it was definitely a step forward from yesterday. My riding is improving little by little, and I’m starting to understand both the bike and the setup changes we’re making.
That said, Moto2 is such a competitive category. I’m missing just about half a second to reach Q2 — not a big gap in theory, but in this field, it makes a big difference. Still, I feel we’re in the fight. Tomorrow I’ll focus on riding cleanly, continuing to learn, and doing my best to move up in the race. Let’s see what we can achieve.
