Top 10 for Junior Talent Team as Danial delights in Aragon
A triple points finish from Danial Shahril, Arbi Aditama and Amon Odaki concludes a positive weekend for the JTT at MotorLand Aragón
Starting from P8 on the grid ahead of the penultimate round of the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship, Danial Shahril was aiming to convert a third-row start into solid points. When lights went out the #57 got a sensational start and found himself P4 on the exit of Turn 1. Encouragingly, the Malaysian was showing strong speed and race craft to mix it in the battle for the Top 10. Across the line the Asia Talent Team rider just missed out on P9 by less than one tenth of a second. However, P10 and a best result since Round 2 in Estoril builds a lot of confidence ahead of the final round in Valencia.
Two places further back, Arbi Aditama put on another strong showing. Fighting from P19 on the grid the #93 was part of a group of six riders entering the final lap and the Indonesian kept his nerve to come out on top of the group, taking P12 and in doing so the Astra Honda Racing Team rider equalled his best result of the season so far.
Part of the same group, Amon Odaki produced another comeback masterclass from deep on the grid. The Japanese started P27 and climbed five positions by the end of the opening lap. Slowly working through the order, the #56 was inside the points by Lap 10 and in showing his prowess in the pack, the Asia Talent Team rider took P14 at the flag. It was his fourth points finish of the season, and he did so after gaining thirteen places from his starting position.
Jakkreephat Phuettisan’s day was over on the opening lap. The #20 made a great start from P26 on the grid and was running with Arbi Aditama before losing the front at Turn 8, the Thai remounted but couldn’t recover any points. A great shame as the Honda Racing Thailand rider could have been on course for a result similar to those of the other JTT riders. However, positives will be taken and it was a strong showing in the early stages of the race.
There’s a small break before the FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship season finale double-header at Circuit Ricardo Tormo on the 24th of November. Where the JTT will be ready to end the season on a high.
