#StyrianGP Race Setup

Red Bull Racing Honda and Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda return to the Styrian hills for more back-to-back weekends of racing at the home of the Bulls.

#StyrianGP Race Setup

After the delayed start to the 2020 season, Austria saw not one but two races to kick-off the new-look calendar. Having climbed to the top step with Max Verstappen for our maiden win with Red Bull Racing in 2019, expectations were high. Unfortunately, neither weekend played out as expected, with one third place finish on the podium the only highlight from the first two rounds.

Having had a good run of results over the last few events, seeing Honda power take 5 podiums in the last 3 races, this year our full focus is on keeping the momentum going and achieving a strong result with the Bulls in what will be Honda’s final grand prix at the Red Bull Ring. With it being one of the shortest laps of the year, the pit wall and pit crew certainly have to be on their toes. A handful of quick corners and reasonably long straights keep the power unit working hard too. We’ll be hoping to make the hills sing once more in 2021, to the sound of the Honda music.

In France last Sunday, Max took a brilliant win, with all four of our cars performing well and now we are now in Austria for a double-header, something we already tackled last year at this track. The Red Bull Ring provides a beautiful mountain setting and the track features many changes of gradient. It’s a really nice circuit, one of the shortest of the year, with just ten corners, most of them high speed and it is the shortest in terms of lap time. This is a home race for Red Bull and it is special for all of us, as it was here in 2019 that Honda secured its first win of the hybrid era, again with Max, so we have good memories. It means everyone is very motivated to get the best possible result this weekend. We come here off the back of three consecutive wins and it is encouraging that we won at a conventional race track like Paul Ricard, as well as at the two street circuits prior to that. The nature of this track means it usually produces exciting racing and, as our rivals are still very strong, we can expect a very close fight in qualifying and the race.
